HHL has a reputation for outstanding teaching and an international student body. The candidate should show strong evidence of international teaching excellence at the interface of entrepreneurship and strategic management. Teaching approaches should combine multiple methods and follow a research-induced teaching style. Teaching responsibilities may include Master, MBA and Executive Education programs. An outstanding teaching record on graduate level, ideally in leading European or international Business School, in English language are required.
In the field of research, the potential to develop an internationally recognized research reputation in entrepreneurship and strategic transformation is of high importance. The successful candidate is expected to pursue a coherent and internationally visible research agenda at the intersection of entrepreneurship, strategy and organizational change. Relevant research areas include entrepreneurial action and decision-making under uncertainty, strategic entrepreneurship, business model innovation, and strategic transformation with clear implications for transfer into practice. The candidate should show a first track record of publications in international high-quality journals with high impact on both academic and practice-oriented audiences. Experience in a business school environment is recommended and may be reflected by an obtained doctoral degree from a leading European or international Business School.
Transfer capabilities of the successful candidate are a crucial aspect at HHL and especially for this position. The candidate should have an outstanding experience in managing entrepreneurship programs, incubation or venture support activities and demonstrate a proven track-record of cooperations with research institutions, other universities and external partners. Experience in conceptualization and delivery of entrepreneurship-related programs or transformation initiatives is considered a strong asset. Practical experience in entrepreneurship, consulting or innovation-related leadership roles in Germany is beneficial. In the field of responsibility lies the coordination of further transfer projects within HHL`s Entrepreneurship Cluster.
As the responsibilities of the role include the lead and engagement in externally funded projects, experience in fundraising and execution with public and private institutions or third-party funded research is essential. The candidate should have experience in or knowledge about entrepreneurial ecosystems at the regional, national and international level and a strong and active network with other entrepreneurship universities and centers.
HHL has set a priority of increasing the number of international scholars among its faculty. It actively pursues a policy of diversity and gender equality in all areas of its activities. Interested candidates for Junior-Professorship should submit their application attn. to the Dean Prof. Dr. Tobias Dauth until July 10, 2026. The application should include a motivation letter, a CV including a list of publications, an overview and evaluation of teaching experience, a research statement including the current research pipeline, a teaching concept, and a statement on knowledge transfer in relation to the advertised position. The intended start date is no later than Q1 2027.
