The program: Flexible and tailored to your needs!

The HHL part-time Master in Management program is specifically designed for young professionals and high-potentials. The part-time M.Sc. program allows you to build on your previous qualifications alongside your profession and thereby open up brand new possibilities for your career. The program’s flexibility allows you to reconcile your current job with your aspirations to gain a Master’s degree. This also means providing you with the most convenient location to accommodate your study schedule amidst your current responsibilities. Leipzig, Cologne or Munich? The choice is yours!

We also ensure that the study times are compatible with your current occupation. The Master in Management program starts in September, has a duration of two years and consists of seven to eight lecture weekends per year. You will only need to be present on the HHL campus in Leipzig for two residential weeks each year. And if the workload is just too much, you can prolong the program to 30 months – with no additional fees!

To allow you to maximize the benefits of the program, we offer you the flexibility of focusing the program according to your personal preferences and professional goals. The program consists of three segments; the Welcome Weeks, the General Management Essentials, and the General Management Deep Dives.

1. Welcome Week: Where your HHL adventure starts!

Regardless of the study location you select, your part-time Master program will kick-off with the Welcome Weeks on the HHL campus in Leipzig. The Welcome Weeks offer a plunge into the HHL spirit. Through a range of intercultural team-building activities, you will embark on your unforgettable HHL adventure. You will get to know classmates from all of our programs and from all corners of the world and lay the foundation for a powerful network of connections that will support you not only through your studies, but far beyond. You will be welcomed into the HHL community, getting to know the faculty and the HHL team that will support you through all aspects of the program. Your first courses of the HHL General Management Essentials block will begin your transformation into the future leader of your aspirations.

2. General Management Essentials: Get the skills of the future today!

This is where you lay the foundation for your management career. Three pillars impart a balanced mix of fundamental and state-of-the-art management knowledge:

Business Administration & Economics

In addition to fundamental business administration and economics courses, this pillar includes one of the M.Sc. program’s highlights. You will deal with an integrated case offering an in-depth and interdisciplinary experience of real-life problem-solving, drawing on perspectives that span many facets of business.

What will good leadership look like in the future? How can we lead and succeed in an unpredictable, volatile, digital world? How can we find innovative solutions to the increasingly complex problems of today’s world? What are the most effective ways of negotiating in intercultural settings? Most part-time programs don’t allow this kind of international experience, but at HHL you are able to opt for a term abroad at one of our 135 partner universities. And this has proven to be a very popular option – 30 percent of our part-time M.Sc. students choose to study abroad for a term. We support you throughout the process – from choosing the partner university that most benefits your future career plans to organizing the exchange and even throughout your stay abroad.

Three fantastic cities with the perfect infrastructure for your part-time Master in Management: It is entirely your decision if you choose to study in Leipzig, Cologne or Munich. Our weekend courses are available at your location of choice. And if you happen to miss a course at one location, you are welcome to catch up at another one. You will have the opportunity to bond and network with your fellow part-time M.Sc. classmates from all locations during our residential weeks on the HHL campus in Leipzig.

Pre-module

If you have a first degree with less than 210 ECTS credits you must take the pre-module. To enroll in the pre-module, you have to be admitted to the part-time Master Program in Management (M.Sc.). The pre-module consists of two sub-modules which together account for a total of 30 ECTS credits. The sub-modules can be completed separately depending on the number of additional credit points needed.

(20 ECTS credits)

Project Management 
Compensated by work experience: Therefore, your former or current employer has to fill out an approval form provided by HHL.

Sub-module 2
(10 ECTS credits)

Introduction to Management and Economics (online course)
Elements of this sub-module are the courses “Introduction to Economics” (4 credits), “General Management” (3 credits) and “Introduction to Financial Reporting & Management Accounting” (3 credits).

Part-time M.Sc. at HHL: Education that pays off!

The part-time Master program does not only improve your career prospects, but also increases your chances for a sizeable salary upgrade. Our statistics showcase this; HHL part-time M.Sc. graduates earn an average of 60 percent more than before their studies! On average, the annual salary for our graduates is EUR 79,000. The investment in your future is therefore definitely worth it!

Tuition fees for the part-time Master in Management program amount to EUR 29,500, whether you choose to complete the program in 24 or 30 months after starting in fall. This fee covers all of HHL’s teaching and examination services, as well as course materials and catering at the study locations. If selected, the optional term abroad at one of our partner universities is also included in this amount. Only accommodation and travel expenses are not covered. Should you choose to earn missing ECTS credits with our pre-module, you will be charged an additional EUR 100 per credit point, which will be deducted from your tuition fees once you start the program. Therefore, as soon as you are enrolled in the Master in Management at HHL, these additional ECTS credits are free of charge!

Payment terms: Pay your tuition fee step by step!

After you have been admitted to HHL, we ask that you make a down payment of EUR 1,000 to secure your place in the part-time M.Sc. program. The remaining costs will have to be paid in two installments at the beginning of the first and second study year. Quarterly payments are also possible upon request.
