Join HHL’s virtual Finance Case Challenge on May 9, 2020!
We warmly invite all bachelor students and recent grads in business administration, economics or alike to apply for this unforgettable experience where we put you in the shoes of M&A practitioners striving towards the best outcome for their stakeholders.

Setup Details

You will find yourself in the center of a Merger & Acquisition (M&A) process, either assigned to the bidder team or to the sell side. In either case, you will be randomly placed in a group of three and prepare for negotiations with a team from the other side by…

  • analyzing strategic positions and financial situations of target and bidder
  • performing a corporate valuation and estimating synergy potentials
  • understanding and anticipating the perspective of the other side
  • constructing a deal proposal.

Your team will be mentored by HHL alumni with expertise and experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking or Consulting, and by HHL’s finance faculty.

In the end, your team will present your results to a jury of senior practitioners and HHL’s finance faculty. The jury will challenge your analyses, discuss potential extensions or weak points and share insights from their own experience.

All participants are going to receive an HHL Finance Case Challenge Certificate and the jury will announce the Best Team Award for either of the two sides, bidder and seller.

HHL’s Finance Case Challenge 2020 will be held virtually via MS Teams.

Who can apply and how?

We accept applications from all bachelor students or recent grads in Business Administration, Economics and alike, which are on the doorway to joining an M.Sc. Finance program in 2020 or 2021.
Please register above and additionally send a short motivation letter (3-5 sentences) along with your CV to Dr. Markus Brendel ( until April 22, 2020.

Our jury will carefully review applications and communicate their selection of participants until April 25, 2020.

Please note:  The workshop will be held in English. Due to a real-time setup and group work, this session is rather only applicable for candidates who live within the European time zones.
