First contact with Accenture at HHL’s Alumni event

HHL alumnus Max Joos: “HHL prepared me very well for a career in management consulting with problem-solving lectures, communication seminars and challenging group assignments.”

Max finished his part-time Master’s in Management at HHL in 2016. After his term abroad at the Indian Institute of Management, he switched from a large insurance group to Accenture in April 2017 where he is working as a Management Consultant – mainly in digitization projects within the insurance industry. In the following, he reflects his experiences at HHL and provides some job insights:

After finishing my dual Bachelor’s degree with a focus on insurance management, I wanted to enhance my management skills in an international study environment. I was very impressed by the familiar atmosphere at the HHL campus and the professionalism of the academic organization. My positive first impression was confirmed throughout the entire Master program. The combination of theoretical and practical lectures prepared me to become a management consultant. During one of HHL’s alumni-events in Munich, I got in contact with a Managing Director of Accenture, which was the beginning of my career in this consulting company. Since I was really satisfied, both personally and professionally, with the lectures, my classmates and the university staff, I still attend HHL Alumni events on a regular basis. It pleases me to make interesting business contacts within the university’s network and to share my experiences with prospective students.

To summarize, my decision to study at HHL paved my way into management consulting and improved my personal development. It allowed me to benefit from the university’s partnership with the Indian Institute of Management where I made a very insightful cultural experience during my term abroad.
