HHL Signs Agreement on Double Degree with University of Adelaide

HRK study: only three percent of all programs in Germany offer dual graduation /// HHL Dean Professor Pinkwart: "The double degree agreement with the University of Adelaide supports HHL's internationalization strategy"

HHL – Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the University of Adelaide have recently signed a double degree agreement. This partnership enables students of the Master in Management (M.Sc.) program to obtain a double degree by graduating from both HHL and its Australian partner university. A recent study by the German Rectors' Conference HRK on Master programs with an international dual degree in the 2011/2012 winter term shows how exotic this kind of offer still is today. According to the study, only three percent of a total 15,278 programs at German universities offer a double degree.

Professor Andreas Pinkwart, Dean of HHL, says: "The double degree agreement with the University of Adelaide supports our internationalization strategy. In addition to a compulsory term abroad at one of our over 100 partner universities worldwide, the students have the opportunity to obtain a double degree at the University of Adelaide. This Australian university is part of the group of HHL's nine international partners all having an AACSB accreditation and offering the option for a double degree."

Professor Christopher Findlay, Executive Dean of the Faculty of the Professions at the University of Adelaide, says: "We are glad about the new agreement with HHL as it is opening vast opportunities for our students to gain exciting experience in Europe while enjoying a high-quality education. Germany today is one of the most important driving forces of the European economy. Our students can learn very much in this respect. And while our economies are structured differently, both countries have close ties with China. The University of Adelaide offers students from Leipzig a high-quality education paired with  international experience. As a partner of the so-called Group of Eight, a group of the best universities in Australia, we stand for top quality in research and teaching. Those studying in Australia learn in an internationally oriented, open economic environment. It is certainly unique thanks to its close ties with China which can be examined from an English-speaking perspective."

International Exchange Programs at HHL

HHL – Leipzig Graduate School of Management has ties with more than 100 partner universities worldwide. With nine of them, all accredited by AACSB, HHL has concluded double degree agreements. Each year, about 80 HHL students spend a term at one of the partner universities abroad in the context of international academic relations. In return, the Leipzig-based business school welcomes 80 international students to its campus every year. To promote the intercultural student exchange even more intensely, HHL only sends a maximum of two students to an international partner university at the same time. The accreditation, the academic reputation of the institution, the attractiveness of the university location and the students' safety in the country of destination are taken into consideration when choosing new partners. The students' mobility is enabled by the adjustment of HHL's academic calendar to international standards. Consequently, HHL has introduced a quarter structure instead of the common semester structure and therefore allows for better planning with regard to the term abroad.
