HHL Forum 2016 - The New Leipzig Leadership Model

December 6-7, 2016

Welcome to the HHL Forum 2016

The New Leipzig Leadership Model

Being a business school in the German-speaking lands which is rooted in its long tradition but innovative at the same time, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management feels a particularly strong responsibility to support active and future leaders in better dealing with complex situations and initiating sustainable developments within their companies and society in these times of globalization, constant technology-driven acceleration and growing disparities. Good leadership plays a special role in an era of permanent change.

HHL wants to help to make better use of future opportunities while rebuilding the trust in economics which was lost during the financial crisis. Therefore, the school has pursued a path of intensive dialog between science, the economy and interested members of the public for several years now, aiming to challenge leadership theory and practice in light of the latest development and to lay the corner stones of a new Leipzig model for sustainable entrepreneurial leadership.

HHL Forum 2014

The HHL Forum 2014 took place under the headline of “Markets and Morals” on the 19th and 20th of November, 2014 in Leipzig.

Markets and competition are the basis of our wealth and well-being. Yet, according to public opinion, there are countless grievances which are attributed to the market economic system such as the growing inequality and the prevalence of exploitation or other scandals. Indeed, the relationship between markets and morals is tension-filled.  The HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the Wittenberg Centre for Global Ethics came together to shed light on this challenging topic at the HHL Forum, “Re-thinking Leadership”. Together with representatives from business, academia, and civil society, amont others Prof. Dr. Gerhard Casper, Prof. Dr. Dr. Karl Homann, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Wolfgang Huber, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Lehner, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Strube and Stephen B. Young, we discussed the moral quality of the market economy and the requisite conditions.

HHL Forum 2012

Does the growing competition which is accelerating due to technological progress and globalization conflict with the concept of sustainability or does it represent a prerequisite for lasting entrepreneurial success and a sustainable, across-the-board development of the economy?
Following the general motto "Rethinking Leadership", renowned experts from the economy and science offered their views on this question.
In addition to discussing the field of tension between dynamic competition and sustainability, the panelists also covered the topics of finance and regulation, sustainability accounting and the latest methods of strategic leadership.
