The Center for Corporate Governance at HHL augments HHL’s established focal points in research and education with explicit practical relevance in its work.
One of the Center’s directors is Christian Strenger, member of the German Corporate Governance Commission and numerous supervisory boards. He explains the Center’s activities: “Apart from research and educational projects, especially in the area of corporate governance and performance, targeted events will promote professional exchange between research and practice.”
Courses and lectures offered by the Center will be an integral part of HHL’s Master programs. The Center’s research will predominantly deal with questions relating to the relevance of good governance to performance, diversity and the development of corporate governance in emerging countries.
International cooperation partners are key to achieving the goals of the Center. For example: “The Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at Yale University has agreed to collaborate with us in researching performance relevance.”
There will also be cooperation on governance in emerging markets with the Global Corporate Governance Forum of the World Bank/International Finance Cooperation.
The Center for Corporate Governance at HHL is under the direction of an academic board consisting of Christian Strenger, Prof. Dr. Michael Wolff (Göttingen University) and Prof. Dr. Marc Steffen Rapp (Philipps-Universität Marburg). A governing board consisting of Christian Strenger and several HHL professors advises the academic board. The Center is supported by DWS Investment GmbH, Bertelsmann Business Consulting and KPMG.
