2nd European MBA Career Fair in Berlin

The 2nd European MBA Career Fair in Germany took place in the bcc Berliner Congress Center on April 4, 2011. The event was joined by 19 different Business Schools from Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands the US and United Kingdom who offered their students to join the MBA Career Fair. Students from internationally accredited full-time MBA programs in Europe came together with personnel staff from selected international companies. The MBA Career Fair gave seven participating companies the opportunity to establish contacts with graduates. Companies introduced themselves to and also got to know graduates from 32 countries in arranged interviews and spontaneous discussions in an open forum.

The annual MBA Career Fair has been taking place since 2004 and is now a joint initiative of two of the leading German business schools: the GISMA Business School, Hannover, and HHL – Leipzig Graduate School of Management. Dr. Annegret Zurawski, Academic Director of GISMA Business School, bid a warm welcome to all participants. “We have gone through a starting phase in 2004 and 2005. We then had great times in 2007 and 2008 and remember the downturn in 2009 and 2010. This year we doubted if we will reach our goal”, Anne said. “The idea of this fair is not to promote individual schools but to support our students in finding the perfect job. This year it was a difficult task and a real challenge. But today students from 19 internationally accredited Business Schools came to Berlin. I am proud of this success.”

The MBA programs of the universities all offer high standards in terms of quality: They are all AACSB accredited and therefore carry the trademark of the world’s most important accreditation agencies. These independent assessments of program quality are carried out according to the strictest criteria and guarantee world class management education.

The European MBA Career Fair is an important service to the students and aims to enable them to make the best possible career start. It is also an excellent chance for companies to recruit international MBA graduates.

All of the 146 MBA graduates were highly qualified; they represented many different personal and career backgrounds as well as bringing numerous cultural backgrounds and a wealth of international experience. However, there was one thing which united all the graduates of the programs: they had all gone through a demanding selection process, have a first degree and an average of six years professional experience. At the business schools it is above all engineers, humanists, scientists and doctors who receive the necessary tools for a management career alongside economists. The graduates are on average 29 years old.
