Latest news in 2008 / Welcome to "Shortie" and "RESI"

Dear HHL community,

The year 2008 is running out and before sending out Christmas wishes we would like to seize the opportunity to give you some Library news:

Over Christmas and New Year our opening hours are as follows:

Monday, December 22, 2008           10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Tuesday, December 23, 2008          10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Friday, January 02, 2009                  10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

From Monday, December 15th, 2008 until the start of the winter term the Library staff will be at your service every day until 4.30 p.m..

Beginning in 2009 we will offer two regular events to learn about the Library’s resources.

Every Monday, 1 p.m. we invite you to our “Shortie” – a guided tour through the HHL Library giving you basic information on how to use the library, how to find what, how to use the scanner. The tour is for new staff or new student assistants and, of course, open to all HHL staff.
Meeting point: Information and Lending Desk in the basement

Every third Thursday per month we welcome you to our “RESI” (Research Information Hour) – a database tutorial for everyone who would like to know more about literature and information research, e.g. when preparing a final thesis or dissertation. You will learn about:
- the most important information tools of HHL Library,
- effective search strategies for the different databases,
- tips & tricks for your information search.

The first Research Information Hour will take place on January 22nd, 2009, 1 p.m.. For organizational purposes we ask  for your prior registration per e-mail (library@hhl.de) until January 20th, 2009. Thank you.

We would like to give special thanks to the Holders of the Chairs of Macroeconomics, Microeconomics as well as the Chair of Economics and Information Systems. Jointly, they finance the database Econlit that offers a wide range of economic journals, e.g. the complete fulltext access to the American Economic Review. At the moment you may access the database via: http.//search.ebscohost.com. Soon, you may access the database also from the webpages of HHL Library.
